Wesley Spencer Prater, PhD, MPH

Wesley Spencer Prater, PhD, MPH, is a fellow at The Ohio State University School of Public Health.  He was formerly a Senior Health Policy Analyst at the Georgetown University Health Policy Institute Center for Children and Families, where his work focused on examining the implications of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and working with stakeholders  at the state and national levels to improve health coverage for low-and moderate-income children and families. 

Prior to joining Georgetown, he was a policy analyst at the Center for Mississippi Health Policy where he examined various policy issues and served as a catalyst for policy debate in Mississippi, primarily around Medicaid, CHIP, and childhood obesity.

A native Mississippian, Wesley is a graduate of Jackson State University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.  He also earned his Master of Public Health at Yale University School of Public Health and his Doctor of Philosophy in Public Health at The Ohio State University College of Public Health.

Wesley has long held a passion for improving the health coverage and access to care for all through policy.  He currently resides in Columbus, OH with his wife and two daughters.
