Writer and Editor

Myles E. Johnson is a 26 year-old black, queer writer and editor existing at the nexus of race, sexual identity, gender, feminism, and justice through content creation and cultural critique. He has authored the children’s book, Large Fears, which centers a character by the name of Jeremiah Nebula, a black boy who loves pink who deals with themes of anxiety, gender identity, and race through an Afrofuturist lens. Large Fears has been acclaimed by LAMBDA, NBC, NPR, Out Magazine, Advocate Magazine, Buzzfeed, Huffington Post, and more.

Johnson also provides social media and editorial assistance to culture/music platform, The FADER, political/social apparel brand Philadelphia Printworks, and black mental health organization, BEAM. Johnson has gained a loyal readership through his continuous writing about politics, gender/sexuality and pop culture with his writing being in New York Times, Essence, Vice, and more. He is also a bi-weekly columnist on Hip-Hop platform, OkayPlayer. Myles E. Johnson is represented by Folio Literary Agency and is currently working on his first memoir, And He Didn’t Cry, an interrogation on how blackness operates as its own gender and queer identity through personal narratives, cultural critique, and political analysis. He lives in Brooklyn, New York.
